Word Microscope in Four Steps

This page gives you a quick look at the main steps in running Word Microscope.

  1. Start: you choose a specimen word to investigate.

    Specimen word: <insight>

    (The Word Microscope character Skopo icon Skopo can help with suggestions.)

  2. Analysis: you find a word sum for your specimen word, made up of its prefixes, bases and suffixes.

    in  +  sight  ->  insight

    (Skopo icon Skopo can suggest possible word sums and do various checks.)

  3. Synthesis: you build on your chosen base to form a family of related word sums and their word matrix. You might come up with:

    foresight
      insight
      insights
      sighting
      sightseeing
      sightseer

    (Skopo icon Skopo can help you find family members and their word sums.)

  4. Presentation: you print off a log of your investigation.

    You can also share your log as a web page.

    Word Microscope automatically updates your log as you go along. It builds the matrix automatically, too.
